Burleson -- Jimmy L. Sheffield, 71, of Burleson, a retired machinist, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010. Visitation was 5-7 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Mountain Valley Funeral Home. Interment followed in Laurel Land Memorial Park in Fort Worth. Jimmy was born February 28, 1938 in Hillsboro to Jim and Bertha Duke Sheffield. He married Darlene Stafford on May 14, 1957 in Ardmore, Okla. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Jimmy was very devoted to his wife of 53 years. He loved fishing, car races and the outdoors. Jimmy also enjoyed his family time and spending time with them all, especially the grandchildren. Jimmy was also very active at his church. His favorite scripture of comfort was Psalm 23. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Brenda Jones. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Sheffield of Burleson; daughters, Lawanda Bond and husband, Paul, of Burleson, Lisa Havens and husband, Jeff, of Burleson; son, Wes Sheffield and wife, Cheryl, of Burleson; brother, Tommy Sheffield of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
