Sisters Dana Bell and Donna Thiessen are lifelong Burleson residents turned Burleson business owners. When the two decided to go into business together and open D’Vine Wine — a winery and retail shop — whether or not they’d stay in area was never in question. “We love the Burleson community and always knew we’d open our business here,” Bell said. “We got lucky finding this location in Old Town, which we adore, and we’ve had a strong opening.” It’s been a long journey. Nine years ago, the sisters traveled the countryside enjoying wineries and vineyards, when it donned on them that this was the type of business they would enjoy and could go into for themselves. “We did extensive research and looked at the option of growing a vineyard,” Thiessen said. “But ultimately, the winery seemed the best route to begin.” The grape juice for D’Vine Wine comes from California vineyards and is fermented and bottled inhouse at the winery in Old Town at 114 S. Main St. “We do the fermentation process, make, bottle, cork and label it all here,” Thiessen said. “We do everything but grow the grapes.” The winery and retail shop was designed to create a relaxing Tuscan ambiance. “The winery’s tasting room and gift shop are cozy and comfortable,” Bell said. “And our staff is always eager to help you choose and enjoy your favorite wine. Visitors can enjoy our wines by the taste, glass or bottle.” Tasting options are three 1-ounce tastes for $5 or four 1-ounce tastes and visitors keep the souvenir glass for $11, the owners said. “I enjoy making the wine for our customers and talking with the new people that come in the store,” Thiessen said. “We hand-craft, ferment and bottle over 15 wines on site. We produce classic pure varietal wines and fruit wines of high character and balance.” For full story, check out the July 28 edition of the Burleson Star.
