Mullin, a record-setting quarterback at McMurry University, will compete for a roster spot as an undrafted free agent.
“It would be fun to play for (Seattle) coach Pete Carroll,” Mullin said. “New Orleans called and said if something doesn't work out with Seattle then give them a call.”
Mullin's agent has also received feelers from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Going the free agent route is what Mullin expected although during the NFL draft he heard talk that the Cowboys might trade back into the seventh round to draft a quarterback.
“We all got excited but nothing happened,” Mullin said. “I was real surprised to hear from those two teams, though. I hadn't heard from them since the beginning of the season.”
At McMurry, Mullin threw for 12,457 yards and 114 touchdowns.
Seattle has a dearth of quarterbacks currently on the roster including starter Russell Wilson, reserve Josh Portis and recent free agent signees Brady Quinn and Russell Wilson.
Jesse Smitherman, Mullin's teammate at Burleson, will attend the Dallas Cowboys Rookie Mini Camp this weekend.
Smitherman, a long snapper, played two seasons at Texas Tech after transferring from Ranger College.
