Game Notes and Stats for Cetennial's win over Birdville
Centennial coach Kyle Geller’s thoughts on Friday win over Birdville
On how frustrating the first half was
"On a scale of one to 10 it was a 10. We fumbled twice when we were threatening to score. I’m anxious to see Xander Richards fumble on film."
On what went right in the second half
"We came out and took care of business. Our defense really played well."
On finally establishing the inside running game
"We talked at halftime about establishing the fullback more. We were able to do that and it opened the outside game. That last touchdown run by Kelton Tezeno they were sucking in on the dive and we just got the ball kick. Every fullback got a good amount of carries. They all played well and ran hard."
On Kelton Tezeno’s play
"Two interceptions and two touchdowns and he missed most of the second quarter. He played well."
On being 2-0
"It’s good. Each week your goal is to win. I’m just hoping that we are healthy. It’s something to build on. I know we still have lots of adjustments to make. We had some penalties and fumbled the ball four times on one drive. You can’t do that. It was nothing other than us running with the football and losing possession."
On the play of the defense
They did a phenomenal job to shut a team like that out in the second half. It looked like Ethan Quintanilla had a great game and Blake Birdwell shutdown their best receiver. We had some communication problems in the first and we got those fix.
