Game, Quotes and Stats from Centennial's road win at Arlington Seguin

Post-game thoughts from Centennial coach Kyle Geller

On how good his post-win Karl’s Jr. Western Bacon Cheeseburger will be

“I’ll tell you, I don’t know if I’ll be able to keep it down.” On the importance of the District 9-5A victory “That was a big, big win for us. But we have Burleson next week and that is going to be another tough game. It’s just week to week you have to come to play.”

On the game overall

“It must have been an exciting game for the fans. It was just a team effort. We did just enough to win.”

On the play of Arlington Seguin quarterback Mykelti Carelock

“We did what we did (to stop him). Heck, the kid was hard to tackle. The kid is a heck of a player.”

On the passing game

“I wish we had been able to protect the passer better. We had some open receivers.”

On the overall play of the offense

“I thought at times we executed well. They were big and aggressive and they did a nice job on defense.”

On wearing down Arlington Seguin’s defense in the second half

“We talked at halftime (about them wearing down on defense). We felt like they were getting tired. They were starting to lean over and put their hands on their knees.”

On the resiliency of the offense

“To our kids credit, they just kept after it. There would be times where they would blow us back and on the next play we would be right back on them.”

On quarterback Payton Strambler’s play

“I thought Payton played a heck of game. (His run) is going to on our highlight reel.”

On Kelton Tezeno’s break up of possible touchdown pass on the Cougars’ final drive

“That pass break up was something else.” On Darrel Williams play at fullback “Darrel ran tough. That was probably his best game running inside. He did a good job of running to after contact.”
