Garrett promoted to sergeant

Detective Charles ‘Chaz’ Garrett was promoted to the rank of sergeant, effective Oct. 23.

Sgt. Garrett is a nine-year veteran of the department. He has experience as a field training officer, bike patrol officer and detective working both property and financial crimes. He has a passion for teaching others and has been actively involved with the department’s Police Explorer Program since 2012. Sgt. Garrett will be assigned to the third shift patrol unit.

“Sgt. Garrett brings great experience to his new role having served as a detective,” Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell said. “His passion is teaching others so this role places him in a position to mentor our youngest tenured officers while providing leadership and guidance for all our staff.”

Sgt. Garrett graduated with an Associate’s Degree from Hill College. He holds an Advanced Peace Officer Certificate from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.
