Art Walk coming Friday to Old Town
Some of the best artists in Burleson will display their works Friday during Art Walk in Old Town Burleson.
The event is aimed at attracting artists of varying abilities to display works from 5-8 p.m. at various locations of Old Town.
"We've invited various artists to come to Old Town to demonstrate or display their art," said Drew Pennywell, Burleson's Old Town tourism coordinator. "We hope this will be something to see while in Old Town, or while waiting in line at a restaurant."
While not all artists may be young of age, the event will include Burleson High School AP studio art students. They will perform face painting as a fundraiser.
"We'll probably have them occupy most of the alley behind Fresco's," Pennywell said. "We think this will be another way to make Old Town more interesting and the cultural center of Burleson."
The event will be followed Nov. 3 with "Shop for a Cause” from 5-8 p.m. in Old Town. That event encourages shopping at participating stores in the area, who will in turn donate 10 percent of sales to Harvest House to help families in need.
"These businesses have a vested interest in the prosperity of Old Town," Pennywell said. "Events like these are a way to keep activity going in Old Town."
Artists participating in Art Walk were neither charged to attend, nor were they paid to participate, Pennywell said.
"They're donating their time to grow their exposure and to help Old Town and neighbors in the community," he said.
