Jordin Taylor, 20, a CHS grad, found dead under bus
The Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office is continuing to investigate how a 20-year-old Texas State University student from Burleson may have been struck and drug by a shuttle bus late Friday night or early Saturday morning.
The body of Jordin Emily Taylor was discovered under the bus Saturday morning in the 600 block of Dupuy Ranch Road at Cool River Ranch, southeast of San Marcos. She was found under the rear axle of the bus.
Taylor was a 2015 graduate of Centennial High School.
"The female somehow came into contact with the bus and was drug over 500 feet," wrote Sheriff Arnold Zwicke in a press release.
The shuttle bus is believed to have lost its air-braking system around 11:15 p.m. Friday, and the shuttle bus driver parked the bus where it had stopped. The following day, a mechanic sent to repair the bus discovered Taylor's body under the bus, Zwicke's report reads.
His investigation determined there had been a Friday night fraternity party at Cool River Ranch, but it is unclear if the two events are related. Taylor's death appears to be an accident, Zwicke wrote.
An autopsy by the Travis County Medical Examiner's office found Taylor's cause of death to be consistent with being struck and drug by the bus, Zwicke wrote.
The Burleson Star was unable to immediately reach the Tarrant County Medical Examiner's office via phone call Monday.
Taylor was a freshman respiratory care major and a member of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority, according to a San Antonio Express News report.
"My heart is broken and sad," Jamie Menchaca wrote about Taylor on Facebook. "Jordin Taylor had a gift. Everywhere she went the light beamed from her. She was a beautiful soul and the most giving, loving, kind-hearted soul."
The death remains under investigation, Zwicke wrote. The Guadalupe County Sheriff's Office is continuing to seek out persons who may have been at Cool River Ranch Friday evening with the victim to share any information they may have. The sheriff's office may be reached at 830-379-1224.
