Motorists injured in major crashes
A pair of major two-vehicle weekend crashes resulted in residents being transported to area hospitals, but all are expected to recover from their injuries, Police Sgt. Wes Routson said.
The operators of two vehicles were transported for medical care at 5:51 p.m. Saturday after one operator of a vehicle traveling northwest in the 300 block of John Jones Drive suffered an unknown medical emergency.
"We're not sure exactly what happened," Routson said. "Neither drugs or alcohol appear to have been involved."
The vehicle hit a telephone exchange box, Routson said, and then veered into southeast traffic on John Jones Drive, where it was struck by the other vehicle.
Less than 24 hours earlier, police and firefighters responded to a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of southbound NE Wilshire Boulevard and NW Hillery Street.
A motorist who had exited Interstate 35W was turning left onto Hillery when his vehicle was "T-boned" by another vehicle at 7:28 p.m. Friday, Routson said. At least one of the two vehicle operators were transported for medical care, Routson said, and is expected to recover from injuries.
