Athena Society of Burleson awards local charities
The Athena Society members gathered at First National Bank of Burleson last week to present checks to deserving charities in the area.
Proceeds from the 2018 Athena Gala were presented to Careity Foundation, Harvest House, A Heart for Children, and The Warm Place making this the 15th year the organization provided support for a variety of services to the greater Burleson community. Since 2004 the Athenas have made it possible for Careity Foundation to offer early detection, diagnostic procedures and timely approval of physician services to those with limited resources. Careity also provides services for children with cancer through Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. Harvest House for childrens’ services and A Heart for Children received a check for backpacks and school supplies. And last, The Warm Place, a center to help children cope with a death in the family received funds to further their mission to council and comfort families after the loss of a loved one.
The Athena Society stated that there will be an additional presentation for the Burleson Opportunity Fund made at the July school board meeting.
At close of the presentation there was a gentle reminder that the 2019 Athena Gala is accepting sponsors and underwriters now to help them continue their work for the Burleson community.
