Burleson church organizes Burleson Responds relief efforts
OpenDoor Church of Burleson is calling all churches, civic organizations, businesses and individuals in the Burleson area to a meeting for a Burleson response to bring relief efforts to the Gulf Coast.
The meeting will be 7 p.m. tonight (Thursday) at OpenDoor Church, 301 S. Dobson.
“As Texans and the body of Christ, we need to organize a massive response to assist in relief efforts. If you have any donations we are keeping a trailer in our parking lot where you can drop food, medicine, blankets, clothing, diapers and other sundries,” said Executive Pastor Jerry Sellers. “If you would like to make monetary donations you can send those to Troybrewer.com.”
Sellers said all money donated will to directly to relief efforts.
“We have already sponsored and sent down a swift water rescue team who rescued over 50 people yesterday and now have relocated to Beaumont,” Sellers said.
OpenDoor Church has already sent supplies from the OpenDoor Food Bank, as well as a cooking team to feed victims and relief workers, as well as a water rescue squad.
Donations of food for the cook team are also appreciated.
“Not only are we taking donations but we are also putting together cook teams to send down to help feed 1st responders. We are receiving eggs sausage tortillas brisket chips to make meals,” said Sellers.
