Burleson falls to Cleburne in ‘Golden Spike’ charity softball game

Even though Cleburne got the best of Burleson in a charity softball game Saturday night, the real winner in the Battle of the Golden Spike game was ReInspire and CASA of Johnson County.

In front of a crowd of about 1,000 at the The Depot, Cleburne topped Burleson, 20-8.

Burleson’s team of mostly firemen and police officers was led by mayor Ken Shetter.

“This is a great event,” Shetter said. “It’s for a great and worthwhile cause. It is certainly fun to get the two communities together and a have a fun rivalry.”

More $10,000 were raised ticket sales, raffle tickets and sponsors according to ReInspire Founder Charise Olson.
