Sonora was a graduate of Pascal High School and left behind an infant daughter.
"My daughter n I look alike," Sonora wrote on his social media site, "Man I want the best for her. I know it won't be easy to take care of her. But I'll learn n stay busy to provide for my baby girl....I love her."
On that same site, friends mourned his loss.
"So sad just knowing he has a daughter that won't be able to have that father figure growing up like she is supposed to. It gives me and my family, church family, peace knowing he was baptized and had a relationship with God. Rest easy Fabian Sonora you will be missed."
Police refused to comment on their ongoing investigation.
