Burleson ISD addresses Florida school shooting
Dear Parents and Staff,
The events that unfolded in Florida last week were devastating and tragic. Schools should be a safe place, and I want you to know the importance we, as a district, place on keeping our students and staff safe each day.
Safety is our first and utmost priority, and one that we continuously assess.
While the tragedy in Florida has naturally heightened awareness of security, I want to assure you that we continuously review and reinforce safety procedures and protocols for all of BISD.
Burleson ISD maintains close working relationships and open lines of communications with local responders, especially during these times. BISD closely follows their advice and direction on all matters regarding safety. We also host Safety and Security Committee meetings to review and update security practices and emergency operations plans. Agencies that work together to form the Safety and Security Committee include:
Burleson Police Department,
Burleson Fire Department,
Burleson Fire Marshal,
Johnson County Emergency Management,
Johnson County Sheriff’s Office,
and other local agencies.
I encourage you to visit this link on our website to view more information and ongoing actions our district takes to provide a safe learning environment.
Again, the safety and security of our students, staff, and campuses, are our first and highest priority. It is one that we focus on each and every day, and I am proud of the work those in our district do to keep us safe.
I thank you for entrusting your kids to us.
Burleson ISD Superintendent
