City to host several events
The city of Burleson is inviting residents to attend the upcoming Connect with the Council town hall meeting at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 15 in the parish hall of Saint Ann Catholic Church, located at 100 S.W. Alsbury Blvd.
Connect with the Council is an initiative of the Burleson City Council to connect with residents and businesses by giving them an opportunity to speak with their elected officials. This town hall meeting will provide an opportunity for citizens to ask questions on a city-related issue important to them.
One primary point of this meeting is to address an economic development update, made by Economic Development Manager, Alex Philips.
“We see the city continuing to grow at the three-to-four percent increase we have seen for the last 10 years,” Philips said. “We believe we will continue to be proactive in recruiting companies to create more jobs for our citizens.”
Additionally, Philips addressed the changing retail market in Burleson.
“The retail industry is changing but we are continuing to change with it and reach out to the establishments that our citizens have asked about to tell them about our community and hopefully get them here.”
Another city government event coming up is the first quarterly meeting of 2018 for the Chamber of Commerce annual State of the City. Mayor Ken Shetter will discuss the city’s recent success in bringing in more large companies to the area, as well as business development for 2018.
