Family of newborn baby needs help after fire burned their home to ground
BURLESON – The parents of a newborn baby boy were in the hospital with him July 1 when lightning struck their home and burned it to the ground.
Cameron and Morgan Haddock now have no place to take baby Carter Haddock. As the family prepares to be discharged from the hospital, they have no home and no belongings, according to a GoFundMe account soliciting funds to help the family relocate.
No human beings were injured, but two of their three beloved cats are gone.
“The crib, bedding, changing table, and rocking chair are gone,” reads the GoFundMe account. “The carefully prepared, washed, dried, and folded baby clothes and cloth diapers are gone. The gifts from the baby shower are gone. The books, signed inside by family and friends as a keepsake, are gone.”
The new family is staying with family members, but desperately needs to replace baby items quickly.
“If you feel led to donate, please give to the Go Fund Me account to help them replace their immediate baby needs,” the account reads. “Thank you and God bless.”
Since the original post on July 4 by Leslie Haddock DeHart of Burleson, 231 people contributed $14,295 through the account for the family. Plus, the campaign was said to be trending.
As a result of that good news. there was a very hopeful recent update to the GoFundMe account added on July 5.
“Thank you so much for the generous donations to Cameron, Morgan, and Carter Haddock today,” it reads. “Our friends, family, (and even strangers!) are incredible to respond like this! At the request of a friend, the goal has been raised, as he said, to ‘see how awesome God can be in helping provide for this young family.’ Thank you all!”
Among the contributors:
• Lacey Thompson, who donated $50, offered them all her best.
“Praying for your beautiful family from a fellow Texan,” she wrote.
• Tracey Jaynes-Broyles and another unnamed person donated $50 and were very sympathetic.
“So, so sorry this happened,” Jaynes-Broyles wrote. “Prayers for your family and sweet new baby.”
• Krystal Russell, who donated $75, said, “So sorry for the loss of your home and everything in it including your fur babies but so glad y'all are all safe! My prayers are with you in this difficult time and may God Bless you!”
