Homicide sparks an investigation
On Oct. 6 at approximately 10:13 p.m., Burleson officers were dispatched to the Days Inn, located at 329 S. Burleson Blvd, according to a City of Burleson press release. Officers arrived on scene and discovered a 26-year-old female, who was deceased. The male subject, who requested the 911 phone call, was detained and transported to JPS Hospital, by ambulance, for medical evaluation. The male was identified as 26-year-old Phillip Andrew Campbell. A search warrant was obtained for the room, and the scene was processed. “There was unexplained trauma to the body of the deceased,” said Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell. Mr. Campbell was then placed under arrest for the investigation of murder. Once he was medically cleared from JPS he was transported to the Johnson County Jail, where he is currently. His bond was set at $500,000. The suspect and victim are believed to be acquaintances.
This was, according to Chief Cordell, an isolated incident and the community should not be alarmed. “There is no continued risk to the public at this time,” Chief Cordell said.
This is Burleson's fourth homicide of the year, according to Chief Cordell.
