Sheriff asking for help to stem auto theft
The Johnson County Sheriff's Office and the Tri-County Auto Theft Task Force are asking residents to be vigilant in preventing auto theft in July.
Auto theft increases in the summer and July leads all months in auto theft, according to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, leading it to be declared "Watch Your Car" Month.
Residents are asked to remove valuables, keys and always lock an unattended vehicle. Burleson Police Chief Billy Cordell has also reiterated the warning recently related to vehicle burglaries.
