The Shipman Companies was honored with the Ann Heberle Beautification Award this month for their dedication and effort to the landscape and community. This award is presented to local business owners each quarter. The award recipient receives a special sign and plaque to display inside their business.
David Shipman founded the company nearly 35 years ago. The business is a family owned real estate firm that has been buying and renovating homes and businesses since the 1980s.
Sometime after founding Shipman Companies, Shipman founded Apex of Texas Homes.
Originally, his wife Francene Shipman was in the title business and encouraged her husband to get into the real estate world.
“I saw everybody else doing it, and I knew he could do it better!” she said.
Shipman raised his entire family in Burleson and has watched his company grow alongside his family. He said over the years they have probably renovated close to 3,000 buildings.
“We’re looking forward to being a big part of the growth of Burleson,” said David Shipman, founder of Shipman Companies, said.
Shipman Jr. said that the partnership with the city has been important to the company.
“The city is very good to us and we try our best to be good to it,” David Shipman Jr., president of the company said. “We try to support as many of the local businesses as we can.We want to support the city as much as we can.”
President of Apex of Texas Homes, Brock Johnston, said they have some new and exciting projects coming up as well.
As for what sets them apart from other businesses, “Family,” said Summer Johnston.
“Our employees are treated like family, our clients are treated like family,” Johnston said.
Above all, the Shipman Companies pride themselves on one thing.
“We do our best to take care of our customers,” said Shipman Jr.
