Burleson's White and Brown compete at tennis regionals
A year ago, Burleson’s Adam White and Daniel Collingsworth compete in boys doubles at the Class 5A Region I tennis championships in Lubbock.
White was back in Lubbock Monday and Tuesday with a different partner play mixed doubles with Brinkley Brown.
After finishing second at the District 8-5A championships, White and Brown won fought back to win their opening round match Monday versus South Hills Fernando Flores and Romane Mays.
Against the District 7-5A champs, White and Brown trailed 0-3 then won six straight games to win the first set. The duo went on to win the match, 6-3, 6-2.
Despite White’s serve consistently hitting 110 mph, the Burleson pair fell Tuesday to District 3-5A champions Allison Jenkins and John Stephens from Canyon Randall, 6-3, 6-4.
At the District 8-5A championships, White amd Brown lost their first set to Aledo’s Jared Kelm and Allison Dale then fought back to win their quarterfinal match at the District 8-5A championships 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
In the semifinals, White and Brown defeated Granbury’s Wade Dalby and Molly Garrison, 6-2, 6-0 to reach the finals.
The duo fell to Aledo’s Alec Meendsen and Nikki Adamie, 6-1, 6-1, in the final. White and Brown then won a playback match against Granbury’s Zach Zagrocki and Cadence Chiappe, 6-3, 6-1, to qualify for the regional tournament.
