BETTY JO (PROFFITT) HARVEY
Betty Jo (Proffitt) Harvey, 91, joined her beloved husband in eternal heavenly rest Friday, Sept. 16, 2016.
Graveside funeral services were 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2016, at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Fort Worth.
Born Aug. 17, 1925, to Lawrence and Nannie Proffitt, Betty was the ninth of 10 children. She graduated from Denison High School and married Floyd Franklin Harvey on Sept. 7, 1943. Together, they had three children: Cherryl, Floyd Elliott and Linda. They lived in Oklahoma and ultimately settled in Fort Worth, Texas, where Floyd operated Consolidated Packers Hides.
Betty was a homemaker who was accomplished in painting, cross-stitch, quilting and ceramics, earning awards in all disciplines. She enjoyed cooking and, most of all, she enjoyed her extended family members and fellowship at Oak Knoll Baptist Church. In her last few years, Betty resided in Sherman, Texas, near her daughter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Floyd F. Harvey; daughter, Linda Harvey; and eight siblings.
Survivors include her sister, Wanda J. Melton; her daughter, Cherryl Porter, and husband, Nick; son, Floyd Harvey, and wife, Peggy; grandchildren, Kristi and Bennet Creed; Brian Porter; Jennie Suchocki; Robert Harvey and wife, Judy; and David Harvey and wife, Misty; along with eight great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
