Burleson - Dr. Siegfried S. Schatzmann, 76, passed away after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease on Tuesday, Feb. 20, 2018.

Memorial services were 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, at First Baptist Church, in Burleson. Visitation was 10 – 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018, also at First Baptist Church in Burleson.

Siegfried was born Aug. 8, 1941, in Switzerland. He was a New Testament scholar with a teaching career spanning over 30 years at Oral Roberts University; Regents Theological College, in England; in Germany as a guest professor; and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Prior to teaching, he served as a pastor in Switzerland and a missionary in Lesotho, Africa. Siegfried was an avid philatelist, gardener, and reader. He enjoyed translating theological German books into English, and he traveled frequently to his home country to see family and friends.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Madi Schatzmann; children, Myriam Vest and husband, Joseph, David Schatzmann and wife, Patti, and Marcel Schatzmann and wife, Angela; and grandchildren, Amaris, Mallory, Janelle and Elyse Vest, Amanda, Amy and Cole Schatzmann, and Aaron, Paige and Trey Schatzmann.
