The trust of Mary is the meaning of Christmas
The teenager mother of the Messiah (God is with us) had to be surprised with her pregnancy. Mary, the mother of Jesus, surely did not understand what was about to happen in her life, but she trusted. We see in her experience that, even without fully comprehending everything in God's plan, we can trust and embrace what he wants us to do. Amen?
The Book of Luke Chapter 1:26-30 tells us in the sixth month, the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a town in Galilee called Nazareth, to a virgin engaged to an older man named Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin was a teenager by the name of Mary. And the angel came to her and said, "Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you." But, Mary was deeply troubled, what kind of greeting this could be? Then Gabriel said,"Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God." Fear wants to cripple us and have the last word in our lives, but God's presence wins over fear every-time.
Continuing in Luke, Chapter 1, “You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you will name him Jesus, which means to save. Jesus will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give him the throne of his father David. Further, He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and his kingdom will have no end (John 3:16). Mary asked Gabriel, "How can this be, since I have not had sexual relations with a man?" Friends, things and miracles are easy with God!!!
The angel replied to her. "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will over shadow you. Consider your relative Elizabeth. Even she has conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her. Her son will be called John the Baptist, the cousin of Jesus. For nothing is impossible with God. Then Gabriel left. Mary did not understand everything but, she trusted.
During this Christmas season, we are to trust, believe, obey and serve our Savior. That my friends is the "Meaning of Christmas!!!" Merry Christmas!!!
