Elks shutout Everman on the road
Burleson’s tennis team registered its second consecutive shutout with a 19-0 District 9-5A victory at Everman last Tuesday.
The Elks were 3-0 in district going into their crosstown match Tuesday with Centennial. There were no results available for the match.
The Lady Elks collected six wins in girls singles play thanks to the efforts of Brinley Brown, Hali Dinwiddie, Alexis Baker, Deanna Zaragoza, Naomi Mitchell and Katie Kirkpatrict.
In girls doubles play, teams of Brown and Zaragoza; Dinwiddie and Baker and Mitchell and Neely Huskisson all won.
Getting wins for the Spartans in boys singles play were Joe O’Brien, Connor Williams, Deven Richardson, Tanner Roberton, Cole Bacon and Levi Porter
Picking up victories in boys singles play were O’Brien and Richardson; Williams and Porter and Robertson and Bacon.
In mixed doubles play, Kirkpartrick and Brooks got the win.
Spartans come up big
Facing stiff competition from Arlington Seguin, Centennial's boys players stepped up and delivered six wins to lift Centennial to an 11-8 win last Tuesday in District 9-5A play.
The Spartans were 3-0 headed into their showdown Tuesday at Burleson. No results were available for the match.
Jonah Barron, Trey Schatzmann, Preston Villaythong and Paxton Williams each registered wins in boys singles play. Then in boys doubles play, Jonathan Boski and Jonah Barron; and Noah Barron and Villaythong picked up crucial wins.
Schatzmann and Jacey Westbrook were the victors in mixed doubles play.
Lady Spartans' Jaelyn Tucker, Simone Chalabi and Olivia Taylor each registered wins in the girls singles play. Rachel White and Taylor picked up a win in girls doubles play.
