Softball playoffs open Thursday
Burleson and Centennial will open the Class 5A softball playoffs Thursday with the first game of the squads best-of-three Region I bi-district playoff series.
Burleson (19-7), the third-seed from District 5-5A after finishing tied for second-place with Granbury, will take on the second-place team from District 6-5A, Fort Worth South Hills (12-5).
The first game of the series is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday at Burleson. Game 2 will be at 7 p.m. Friday at South Hills. A deciding third game, if needed, would be at 4 p.m. Saturday at South Hills.
The winner of the series will take on the winner of the best-of-three series between Denton Ryan and Saginaw Boswell.
Centennial (12-15), which finished fourth in 5-5A, will face District 6-5A champion Fort Worth Arlington Heights (23-7).
All three games will be played at Cleburne High School.
The opening game of the series is slated for 8 p.m. Thursday. Game 2 of the series is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday. If needed a deciding third game will take place at 2 p.m. Saturday.
The winner of the series will face the winner of the best-of-three series between Denton and Azle.
