Volleyball practice starts
Things haven’t changed for volleyball teams as they won’t have many days to prepare for the start of the 2019 season.
Volleyball practice opened today for Burleson and Centennial’s programs.
Burleson, the defending District 5-5A champions, will open the season Tuesday night with a 6:30 p.m. game at Stephenville. The Lady Elks, who reached the second-round of the playoffs last season, will play Aug. 9-10 and at the Bev Ball Classic in Abilene.
Burleson’s first home game will be Aug. 13 versus Weatherford.
Centennial, which finished sixth in the district play last season and missed the playoffs for the first time in the program’s history, has opted to not play a game on Tuesday.
Instead the Lady Spartans will host a scrimmage Saturday and play Monday in a scrimmage at Mansfield Lake Ridge.
Centennial’s first action will come Aug. 8 at the Mansfield Tournament.
The Lady Elks and Lady Spartans open district play Sept. 13 at Centennial.
