Burleson’s Boys of Summer
The Burleson Elks baseball camp kicked off summer sports camp season last Tuesday and it was filled to the gills with future Elks.
Burleson baseball coach Daniel Bruce said a record 170 campers participated in the camp that was divided into two sessions.
“That is the most we’ve ever had by 50 kids,” Bruce said.
The morning session was for kindergarten through incoming six-graders. The afternoon session was for incoming seventh- through ninth-graders.
“There is some talent in the incoming freshman group,” Bruce said.
The increased number of campers didn’t put a strain on things because of the large amount of former players and current players, who volunteered to help.
“Things went well and that’s tribute to all of them,” Bruce said. “
The weather also helped out. The only camp day lost was Friday because of rain.
