Burleson's Cesar Limones qualifies for state meet

Junior will compete in 1,600 meters May 13

Having already run at the UIL Class 5A state cross country championships earlier in 2015, Burleson junior Cesar Limones will compete at another state championship this season.

Limones finished second in the 1,600 meters at the Class 5A Region I track and field championships over the weekend in Lubbock, The junior will complete May 13 in Austin at the UIL Class 5A state track and field championships.

After finishing fourth in the 800 in a time of one minute, 58.37 seconds, Limones raced to a second place finish in a time of 4:26.53.
In the field events, Jon Saal finished 10th with a throw of 137 feet, 11 inches. Kody Russey placed 11th in the shot put with an effort of 46.9.5.

The Elks 1,600 relay team of Michael Limones, Conner Schrayer, Justin McMaster and Brady Camp finished fourth in the finals in a time of 3:21.43.

The team of Lester Gurira, Schrayer, McMaster and Camp placed tenth in the 800 relay preliminaries in a time of 1:30.50.
Corinth Johnson was the lone competitor for the Lady Elks. She competed in three events.

Johnson finished fourth in the 200 in a time of 25.81. She placed seventh in the 100 in a time of 12.73. In the long jump, Johnson finished sixth with an effort of 17-0.75.
