Burleson's Limones, Saal fare well at state
Burleson’s seniors Cesar Limones and Jon Saal finished their track and field careers over the weekend participating at the UIL Class 5A track and field state championships.
Limones was competing in his state second meet and Saal was at his first meet. The event took place at Mike A. Meyers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas at Austin.
For the second consecutive year, Limones finished sixth in the boys 3,200 meters. The senior clocked a personal-best time of nine minutes and 26.96 seconds.
It was Limones’, who also made two trips to the state cross country championships, came into the meet with the third-fastest qualifying time. He finishing third at Region II championships. The senior was a wild card qualifier.
Throwing in his first state meet, Saal placed ninth Friday in the boys' discus.
Saal’s fifth of six attempts was his best. The throw went 150 feet, 11 inches. Saal, who finished second at the Region II championships, entered the state meet with the ninth best qualifying throw.
