Lady Elks finish second at Pilot Point Tournament
Burleson’s girls basketball team camp up short in the championship game of the Pilot Point Tournament losing to Bridgeport, 27-26, Tuesday.
The Lady Elks went 2-1 in pool play beating Boyd, 47-34, and Pilot Point, 47-37. Burleson lost to Forney, 50-42, in its first pool play game.
“It was a good tournament for us,” Burleson coach Curtis Enis said. “We were just trying to get their legs back under them with four games in two days. I thought our girls played better in each game.”
The Lady Elks are beginning to handle physical play better and playing better defense, Enis said. And Burleson’s offense is improving. Thought the Lady Elks did struggle shooting free throws in the title game and that cost them.
Burleson returns to District 9-5A play Tuesday at Joshua. The Lady Elks host Everman Jan. 6.
