Lady Elks honor senior class of Isbell and McGovern
Playing its final regular season home game, Burleson’s softball team scored early and often in a 13-2 District 9-5A win over Crowley on senior night.

Burleson (16-8. 11-3) finished in third place in the district. The Lady Elks will open the playoffs in two weeks.
The program honored its senior class of catcher Lauren Isbell and centerfielder Maddie McGovern. Each senior collected two hits and drove in a run. Isbell also doubled.
This senior class is a special one for Lady Elks coach Summer Owen.
“These are my first girls that I’ve had from their freshman to their senior year,” Owen said. “It’s going to be a huge loss to see them go. It’s cool that we came in together and nice to see people grow into their positions. I’ve watched them grow not only as athletes but also as people. I’m really proud of the people they have become and we are going to be sad to see them go but I’m excited to see them go on to play in college.”
Isabella Incencio belted a three-run home in the third inning. Julie Farley and Natalie Wheeler each finished with two RBI. Wheeler hit a double in the win.
Burleson used three pitchers to stop the Lady Eagles including Hayley Vasquez, Kyleigh Rich and McGovern.
