Lady Elks looking to run more this season
Burleson softball coach Summer Owen has another arrow in her quiver this season.
The Lady Elks are adding speed to their game.
“Coaches in our scrimmages have mentioned how fast we are,” Owen said, “I don’t think we have ever been called that since I’ve been here. Speed and power is what we are striving for this season. We going to play a more fast-paced game.”
After losing in the opening round of the playoffs last season to Mansfield Lake Ridge, Owen said her team is driven to get back to the playoffs this season and make an extended run.
“No one likes seeing their playoff run end like that,” Owen said. “I see a big future for this team.”
Last season, the Lady Elks finished third in District 9-5A with a record of 11-3 and posted an overall mark of 16-10.
