Centennial wrestlers Goleman, Meador finish second
Wesley Goleman and Josh Meador had strong efforts at the Outback Invitational hosted by Weatherford High School.
The Spartans scored 58 points to place 11th at the event. The Lady Spartans led by Aubrey Yauger’s third straight title finished ninth overall with 36 points. Kenna Fabela also finished first in her weight class.
Goleman and Meador each finished second in their respective weight classes.
In the 106-pound weight class, Goleman collected a pair of wins by falls to reach the title match where he lost South Grand Prairie’s Renever Paz by fall at 3:28. Meador, wrestling at 113 pounds, lost to Grand Prairie’s Juan Green by fall at 4:47. Meador made his way to the final thanks to wins by fall and sudden victory.
Yauger won the 128-pound weight class over Arlington’s Marissa Torres by fall at 3:00. The freshman won a pair of matches by fall and one by major decision to get to the title match.
Fabela took first place at 122 pounds. Fabela captured the title by fall at 1:04 over Arlington's Amanda Cordoba. Fabela reached the title match with a win by fall.
In boys competition, Ethan Dilleshaw (120 pounds), Christian Rita (126), Tyler Troup (145), Kayden Lane (152), Joshua Yorek (182) and Connor Hostetler (220) each posted 1-2 records.
Five Spartans, John Leverett (132 pounds), Camden Whitehead (138), Kane Ziglinski (160), Blake Degough (170) and Hunter Sells (285) all went 0-2 at the event.
In the girls action, Brooklyn Burgess went 1-2 at 110 pounds while Bailey Burgess (110 pounds) and Trinity Reyna (119) finished with 1-2 records.
