Centennial topples Joshua in team tennis
Playing at Joshua, Centennial’s tennis team registered a big District 9-5A victory with a 13-2 decision over the Owls last Tuesday afternoon.
With the win, Centennial moved into a tie with Arlington Seguin for third place at 4-2. The Spartans played at Everman Tuesday afternoon in its final 9-5A match. No result was available.
Centennial’s top two players in boys and girls singles, Trey Schatzmann, Jonah Barroon, Jacey Westbrook and Jaelyn Tuckers did not finish their matches since the victory had been assured.
The team set the tone in doubles play winning five of seven matches.
In girls doubles play, Tucker and Ryleigh Moore; Hannah Rudewick and Simone Chalabi and Rachel White and Olivia Taylor picked up wins.
Noah Barron and Paxton Williams along with Preston Villaythong and Vincent Vu each won boys doubles matches.
In girls singles play, Rudewick, Moore, Chalabi and White each picked up wins. Jonathan Boski, Noah Barron, Villaythong and Vu were winners in boys singles play.
