Centennial wrestles well again
Competing in her second varsity tournament, Centennial freshman Aubrey Yauger won another title this time at Saturday’s Colleyville Heritage Invitational.
Wrestling in the 128-pound division, Yaugar claimed the championship with an 8-4 decision over Grand Prairie’s Kailyn Clay. The freshman reached the title match with two wins by fall and a decision.
Two sophomores had nice tournaments for the Spartans.
Wesley Goleman, wrestling at 106 pounds, finished second after losing by fall to Prosper’s Anthony Reid at 0:47. Goleman reached the finals with three wins by fall.
Josh Meador, who went 3-1 at the tournament, won a 2-0 decision over Keller Timber Creek’s Patrick Procopio to finish third in the 113-pound weight class.
The Spartans finished seventh overall with 77 points. The Lady Spartans scored 30 points to tie with Saginaw Boswell for 12th place.
For the boys, Ethan Dilleshaw, wrestling at 129 pounds, John Leverett (132 pounds), Tyler Troup (145) and Hunter Sells (285) each posted 2-2 marks. Kane Ziglinski competing at 160 pounds went 1-2.
At 170 pounds, Joshua Yorek went 0-1. Four Spartans - Christian Rita (126 pounds), Jacob Blevins (152), Christian Spraberry (182) and Travis Hilliard (195) – each went 0-2.
In girls competition, Taylor Tauch (128 pounds B) and Kenna Fabela (138) each posted 2-2 record. Trinity Reyna went 1-2 in the 119-pound class. Brooklin Burgess (110 pounds) and Bailee Burgess (119) both went 0-2 at the tournament.
