Centennial's Moon qualifies for regionals
The second-day of the District 5-5A girls golf championships was a good one for Centennial’s Amy Moon.
After firing an 88 on the first day of the tournament, Moon shot a second-day 82 to place fourth with two-day 170. With the finish, Moon earned a trip to Lubbock for the Class 5A Region I championships.
The 5-5A championships were played at Grand Prarie’s Tangle Ridge Golf Course.
The regional tournament will take place April 22-23 at the Rawls Golf Course.
“Amy played good on the back nine the last day to shoot an 82 and get one of the medalists spots,” Centennial coach Matt Dunn said. “She has been one the most consistent players all season so I expected her to play well. She works hard at practice every day and it is paying off. She may be a freshman but she plays like an upperclassman. I’m very proud of her and excited to see what she does the rest of this year and the next three years.”
