Centennial's Seale earns first team honors
Things didn’t go well for Centennial’s boys soccer team this season but the Spartans still managed to land two players on the recently released District 9-5A All-District team.
Sophomore midfielder Corin Seale landed on the first team and senior defensive midfielder Joey Williams made the second team.
“I was glad to see these two recognized by the district for their contributions in spite of a tough season,” Centennial coach Brian Boydstun said. “Corin finished with five goals and was a physical defender. Joey was a versatile player, playing both in a holding midfield spot and on our defensive back line.”
The Spartans posted a record of 1-13 in district but did cap the season on a strong note defeating co-district champion Everman, 2-1.
“The 2017 season was a tough one when looking at the overall record, but I don’t think that record truly shows just how competitive this team was,” Boydstun said. “It was a team that struggled a year ago and lost a lot of players to graduation. I am constantly preaching to my guys to believe that hard work pays off. So in spite of our record, I think a great foundation of working hard to achieve as a team was laid, and I truly believe my guys will see the rewards of that work in the future. Now that the season is over, we have already started our off-season work to improve ourselves for next year.”
