Lady Spartans’ seniors lead way in victory
On a night when they were honored, Centennial’s seniors played major role in the Lady Spartans, 15-0, District 5-5A run-rule win over Arlington Seguin Tuesday at home.
The Lady Spartans seven seniors drove in 12 runs, collected 14 hits, including two home runs and a triple, and scored 13 runs.
Centennial’s senior class, which was honored after the game, are: Karter Hill, Serena Bersuch, Kylee Gowin, Hayley Murrell, Carley Eller, Khrie Rockwell and Kendall Price.
Hill had a big night going 3-for-3 with five RBI. She also hit her first career home run, a three-run shot during a 10-run third inning. Gowin drove in three runs in the win.
Murrell added a her first career home run a solo shot in the third. Eller tripled in a run while Bersuch and Rockwell drove in runs.
Madison Thurman also belted a solo home run in the third.
In the circle, Murrell scattered four hits over three innings. She fanned six and walked four.
With the win, the Lady Spartans (12-15, 9-5) finished fourth in the district play. Centennial will open the playoffs next week against the top seed from District 6-5A. The Lady Spartans have never missed the playoffs.
