Lady Spartans fall at home in volleyball
After letting a match get away Friday night, Centennial’s volleyball squad opened the second half of District 5-5A play with a loss to at home to Mansfield Legacy Tuesday night.
The Lady Spartans lost in three games to Legacy, 25-14, 25-21, 25-14.
The loss dropped Centennial to 2-6 in district play and 8-21 overall.
“We just didn’t play well as a team,” Centennial coach Julie Williams said. “I felt like we played flat. We made to many errors and that allowed Legacy to score some easy points. It’s hard to win when we are giving points away.”
The loss came after a strong effort by the Lady Spartans at home against Crowley Friday.
Centennial came up on the short side of scoreboard Friday to the Lady Eagles, 27-25, 16-25, 25-23, 22-25, 18-16.
“I felt we played much better,” Williams said. “We actually had energy and gave some effort. We made a few errors that really cost us the match.”
Things don’t get any easier for the the Lady Spartans as they play the district co-leaders in back-to-back matches. Centennial plays Friday at arch-rival Burleson and hosts Granbury Tuesday.
