Lady Spartans rally past Timberview late
Defense and pitching kept Centennial in the game Tuesday night as the Lady Spartans rallied for a 14-4 District 5-5A softball run-rule home win over Mansfield Timberview.
Centennial’s defense backed starting pitcher Serena Bersuch who scattered 12 hits over six innings to collect the win. The senior allowed four runs (three earned) while fanning five and walking one.
“We made some great defensive plays to back Bersuch in the circle and to hold them to four runs,” Centennial coach Shannon Sullivan said. “That gave our bats time to come together in the late innings.”
Centennial (13-9, 6-1) is tied with Burleson for third place in 5-5A. The Lady Spartan host Burleson Tuesday and play at Crowley Tuesday.
