Lady Spartans top Everman

After dropping its first three District 5-5A volleyball matches, Centennial traveled Tuesday night to Everman.

The trip was a good one for the Lady Spartans as they downed the Lady Bulldogs, 25-15, 20-25, 25-17, 25-18, to collect their first district win of the season.

“Getting that first district win under our belt feels really good,” said Centennial first-year coach Julie Williams. “I felt like the girls did a good job of playing with some energy. Were were putting balls down on offense and our passing was much better tonight.”

The win came following a 25-15, 25-11, 25-16 road loss at Granbury Tuesday night. The Lady Spartans (7-18, 1-3) host Mansfield Timberview Friday night and play at Arlington Seguin Tuesday night.

Williams had praise for a couple of her players in the win at Everman.

“Caroline Garlington stepped up at libero,” Williams said. “She did a great job passing which helped lead our offense immensely. Offensivley; Zassmine Birdwell put some balls down in the middle which opened things up for our outside and right side hitters.”
