Lady Spartans win another championship
Centennial’s girls’ cross country team cruised to another win Friday at Cleburne’s Buzz Run.
The Lady Spartans were able to outrace the competition on the course at Cleburne High School. The girls scored 30 points to win. Belton was second with 77 points and Euless Trinity was third (128 points).
“It was an awesome cross, but it was short (in distance),” Centennial coach Sarah Eden said. “That’s why our times looked so great.”
The boys placed sixth with 209 points. Waxahachie won the title with 117 points. Belton placed second (133 points) and Waxahachie Life was third (134).
The Lady Spartans ran strong again with four runners finishing in the top seven.
“The girls still did well,” Eden said. “We are still working on getting our fifth runner closer to the other four.”
Junior Sarah Trammel won the meet in a time of 17 minutes, 54.75 seconds. Freshman Harli Woolsey finished second in a time of 17:55.12. Sophomore Ashley Campbell placed fourth in the time of 19:02.13 and junior Abi McCandless was seventh in a time of 19:22.15.
