Meador, Spartans run-rule North Side in playoff-opener

Centennial senior Jacob Meador seems to like pitching in Everman.

Thursday night, Meador registered his third victory pitching at Everman’s baseball field this season.

Meador tossed a five-inning no-hitter for a 10-0 victory in Game 1 of the Spartans' best-of-three Class 5A Region I bi-district playoff series against Fort Worth North Side.

The senior walked one and struck out 13 of the 16 Steers he faced. Meador also had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Meador topped Everman in District 5-5A and defeated Mansfield Legacy in a playoff seeding-game.

Zavier Fuller, Gabe Irwin, and Colby Stacy each finished with two RBI. Fuller hit two triples and Miguel Santos doubled once.

The Spartans (22-10) face North Side at 5 p.m. today in Game 2 of the series. A deciding third game, if needed, would follow 30 minutes after the second game.
