Saturday race goes well for Centennial
Saturday was a good day for Centennial’s cross country teams as they competed at the Fort Worth Paschal Invitational in the Open Division.
The Lady Spartans scored 51 points to finish second and the Spartans tallied 84 points to place fourth.
Colleyville Heritage finished first in the girls division with 41 points and Brenham was third with 66 points. In the boys competition, Northwest East placed first with 39 points. Brenham was second (76 points) and Paschal was third (78 points).
For the first time this season, senior Sarah Trammel was the Lady Spartans top runner taking first place in a time of 19 minutes. 4.2 seconds. Sophomore Harli Woolsey placed second in a time of 19:11.9. Freshman Kate Moravec was 23rd in a time of 21:13.3. Junior Marina Grimaldo place 26th in a time of 21:22.3. Sophomore Madylin Herrera was 33rd in a time of 21:58.0.
Senior Serena Bersuch finished 35th in a time of 22:01.1 and junior Vantashia Bond was 49th in a time of 23:01.3.
The Spartans top runner Saturday was junior Nick Newby who covered the course in a time of 16:51.8 to place eighth. Junior Trevor Pennington finished 18th in a time of 17:23.1.
Freshman Luke Johnson was 23rd in a time of 17:31.6. Senior Ryan Valdez finished 25th in a time of 17:48.1. Junior Andy Shue placed 30th in a time of 18:04.6 and senior Derek Larabell was 31st in a time of 18:08.6.
