Spartans down Midlothian, 1-0
After dropping a pair of 1-0 decisions, Centennial’s boys soccer team finished non-district play with 1-0 win over Midlothian Tuesday night.
Nick Scarpello notched the lone score of the night off an assist from Corin Seale.
Keeper Josh Emslie register the shutout.
“Midlothian is the best team we have played this year,” Centennial coach Brian Boydstun said. “The guys played tough defense and found a way to get one in the net.”
Boydstun said Emslie had a “highlight reel night in goal” against a perenial playoff team.
Facing another playoff-level team, Centennial dropped a 1-0 decision to Mansfield Summit Friday in a non-district game.
“That was another great game played against a top team,” Boydstun said.
The Jaguars scored off a corner kick late in the match for the winner.
Centennial lost to Aledo, 1-0, last Wednesday in a match that had been postponed from last Tuesday.
The Spartans open District 9-5A play Friday hosting Crowley and play Tuesday at Cleburne.
