Spartans open fall golf season

Centennial’s boys golf team shot a three-day total of 1,019 to place 50th at last week’s Bart Granger Memorial hosted by Fort Worth Paschal.

“The young guys played really well,” Centennial coach Matt Dunn said. “Freshman Tyler Everts, sophomore Corbin Franco  and senior Cody Martucci were very consistent.  It was solid start but there is lot’s of room to improve. We beat (District 9-5A foe) Cleburne but we have work to do to catch Granbury.”

Martucci led the Spartans firing a three-day total of 244. Just behind Martucci was Franco with a 245 total. Everts fired a 265. Vic Torres shot a 269 and Kobe Salisbury finished with a 271.

Centennial’s boys and girls squads return to play Wednesday at the Centennial Tournament at Southern Oaks Golf Course. Burleson’s boys and girls teams will also play at the tournament.
