Spartans top Bulldogs

Centennial senior Jacob Meador was masterful on the mound Tuesday night in the Spartans’ 10-0 six-inning run-rule District-opening victory at Everman.

Meador struckout out 17 of the 21 batters he faced. The senior allowed two hits and hit one batter. Meador also had a double and drove in two RBI.

Gabe Irwin was the hitting star for the Spartans. The senior belted a three-run home run and added a triple for good measure. He finished with five RBI. Miguel Santos drove in a pair of runs with a triple and a double.

Tripp Bernethy, Zavier Fuller and Austin Marcantel each had RBI in the win.

Leading 1-0, Centennial broke the game open scoring three runs in the fifth inning and six runs in sixth.

The Spartans (8-8, 1-0) host Everman Thursday and host Granbury Tuesday night.
