Lady Elks honor senior class
Burleson scored in all five innings Friday night as the Lady Elks run-ruled Crowley, 10-0, in a District 8-5A softball game at home.
It was senior night for the Lady Elks. Seniors Hannah Loudermilk, Emily Wilson and Jentry Yates were honored.
Loudermilk tossed three innings allowing two hits and striking out six. Kyleigh Rich worked the final two innings.
Wilson went 1-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored.
Natili Wheeler had a nice day at the plate going 4-for-4 with a home run, a two doubles. The freshman collected four RBI and scored four runs. Rich doubled and drove in a pair of runs.
The seniors will be missed by us all,” Burleson coach Summer Owen said. “ They are a huge part of our lineup as well as our daily entertainment. Hannah brings competition to everything we do, and the other girls love it. We will miss Emily’s fun-loving energy. She is such a goof ball and truly brings happiness to the team everyday. They brought a lot to the program, it’s never easy to say goodbye. Luckily, we still have post-season with them and we plan on make that last as long as possible.
The Lady Elks (12-12, 8-5), who have clinched a playoff berth, were slated to play at Everman Wednesday night weather permitting. The game ended after Wednesday press times.
